I'm going to give you a mindset tool today that, if you do this consistently, you'll see a significant change in how you feel, how you act, and your overall results.
It's really simple. When we wake up in the morning, almost immediately, as we open our eyes, a voice in our head starts speaking.
It starts saying, "Oh my God, you've got this meeting. Oh, you have to go visit that person you don't want to. You have to give that presentation." Your mind engages in a full-blown conversation from the moment you open your eyes.
Most people aren't even aware that it's happening. So here's what we need to do. When you notice that the voice is indulging in negative fantasies (because that's precisely what it's doing), remember that no actual event has occurred yet.
You don't need to worry about it until you get there. Instead of engaging in a negative fantasy, shift to a positive one. What do I mean? Instead of starting a negative conversation in your head, reverse it.
For instance, if your initial thought is, "I have that meeting today, and I'm really not looking forward to making that presentation," that's the negative. When you catch yourself doing this, reverse it and say, "That speech was phenomenal. It went incredibly well," and then have a mental conversation with someone at that meeting, imagining them telling you, "Wow, that was really great. You did such an amazing job."
I know it might sound strange and even a bit childish, but consider that we're already indulging in negativity by default. So, all we're doing is flipping the switch and choosing to fantasize in a positive way.
Practice this consistently, and you'll notice a significant change in how you feel overall and, ultimately, in your results as well.
